​2019 Conference:

Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Complex Trauma and its Treatment
on 26th July 2019  
organised  by Complex Trauma Therapist' Network in the UK (CTTN) in collaboration with the University of York

We are delighted to announce a one-day conference as part of Complex Trauma Therapists’ Network UK’s (CTTN’s) collaboration with the Department of Philosophy, University of York. The collaboration aims to advance the therapeutic and theoretical understanding of trauma and trauma-related issues and to improve the range of trauma-related training and treatment provision available. It brings practitioners and academics together to discuss trauma-related phenomena and issues.
 
The conference will provide a forum for academics and practitioners working in trauma-related areas to engage with a view to sharing perspectives and improving mutual understanding and further collaboration. It will cover topics such as:
  • nightmares, other sleep disturbances
  • empowerment in the therapeutic process
  • overlap between brain injury & PTSD
  • a client's journey from disembodied to embodied experience, creativity and embodiment
  • safety in trauma therapy
  • memory,  trauma and re-traumatisation
  • trauma sensitive supervision
  • and more...

The conference will include a combination of keynote presentations and workshops: there will be a number of practical workshops for psychotherapists and others working with trauma sufferers; workshops on key theoretical issues related to trauma; and perspectives and experiences from the NHS, voluntary and private sectors (including Freedom from Torture, NSPCC, Suicide Bereavement UK,  an NHS Trust, and academics from a number of disciplines).

Price:
Standard conference fees are: £100, which includes a light working lunch.
Concessional fees (e.g. unwaged/students) are: £80,  which includes a light working lunch.
We encourage participation from under-represented groups & aim to support graduate students, early career and under-employed researchers/practitioners (Further details to follow.)

Directions from the A64
Follow the outer ring road (A64 S&E or A1237 N&W) to the Hull/Bridlington (A1079/A166) roundabout. At the roundabout follow the road to York and take the first exit towards Grimston Bar Park and Ride, at the small roundabout go straight ahead until reaching either Kimberlow Lane or Field Lane car park.

Directions from York
Follow the signs to Hull A1079 and Bridlington A166 until reaching Hull Road, continue to drive along Hull Road towards the A64 Take the right hand turning towards Grimston Bar Park and Ride and the Sports Village at the small roundabout go straight ahead until reaching either Kimberlow Lane or Field Lane car park.

Bus
There are frequent buses between the city centre and Campus East via the number 4 and UoY66. Ensure you alight at the Ron Cooke Hub stop.

Parking
 is available at Field Lane and Kimberlow Lane car parks. Pay and display parking is in place please purchase a ticket and display this in your vehicle on arrival. Short stay parking for up to 45 minutes is free, longer stays are charged at £1 per hour and is free from 6pm – 8am and on weekends.
